AerCap Places First New Airbus A319s in Turkey With Atlasjet

AerCap, one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing, trading and asset management companies, has purchased two new Airbus A319s from Airbus and placed them on lease to the Turkish carrier Atlasjet Airlines, thus introducing the Airbus A319 to the Turkish market. The first aircraft was delivered to Atlasjet at the Airbus facilities in Hamburg, Germany, on 15 December 2005. The second A319 is scheduled for delivery to Atlasjet in early 2006.

The aircraft are powered by IAE V2500 engines and feature a single-class cabin layout for a maximum of 144 passengers. Atlasjet will fly the A319s on its domestic routes.

Established in 2001, Atlasjet is based in Istanbul and owned by The Oeger Group, Europe’s leading provider of journeys to Turkey, and by affiliates of Turkish tourism group ETS. Atlasjet’s fleet comprises B757s, A320s, CRJ 700s and the Airbus A319 from AerCap as the latest addition.

At the delivery ceremony, Atlasjet’s CEO Tuncay Doganer said: ”Atlasjet Airlines achieved its success through attention to detail, training and experience linked to an approach which ensures the highest possible standards of flight and ground safety.  To ensure these standards are maintained we are keeping our fleet young and to that end we are taking delivery of a brand new A319 now, a second in January of 2006 with another two scheduled for delivery in April 2006.”

Klaus Heinemann, Chief Executive Officer of AerCap said: “We welcome Atlasjet as a new customer for AerCap and also as the first A319 operator in Turkey. The Turkish tourism and aviation sector is expanding rapidly and we look forward to our partnership with a fast growing airline such as Atlasjet in this promising market.”
