debis AirFinance Places Two New Airbus A320s on Lease with New Customer Bangkok Airways

 

debis AirFinance, one of the world's largest aircraft leasing and asset management companies, announced today that it has placed two new Airbus A320-200 aircraft with Bangkok Airways under an operating lease contract. The first aircraft was delivered to Bangkok Airways at the Airbus facilities in Toulouse on 10 September with the second delivery scheduled for November 2004.

 

Both A320s are powered by IAE V2527-A5 engines and feature a 162-seat all economy configuration. The aircraft are equipped with the most spacious single aisle cabin layout available in the market and the latest Thales In-Flight-Entertainment (IFE) system.

 

Bangkok Airways will use the aircraft to develop its international network. The aircraft will be used to operate flights to the Maldives, one of the most popular beach destinations in the Indian Ocean as well as other exotic destinations in China which is the airline’s focusing market.

Bangkok Airways currently operates a fleet of four 717-200s and nine ATR 72s serving 16 destinations in seven countries (Thailand, Cambodia, China, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar and the Maldives). With the introduction of three new A320s, the airline will increase its passenger capacity from 1.7 million by the end of its 2004 fiscal year to surpassing 2 million passengers and will expand its network to destinations with longer range.
