We are looking for an experienced Application Delivery Engineer to join our growing IT team to operate and support the infrastructure and business applications that handles billions worth of transactions each year.

Application Delivery Engineer you’ll be a member of the team responsible for implementing Continuous Delivery and where relevant DevOps technology and practices to mature our software delivery capability.

Working closely with AerCap’s internal IT team, application vendors and retained outsourcing partners, you will play a pro-active role in the following areas:

  • Foster the adoption of continuous delivery and DevOps practices;
  • Implement and configure technology to support the Application Delivery Pipeline;
  • Automate, Automate and Automate;
  • Identify improvements in applications management to advance service delivery; and
  • Monitor critical business application services and the database estate.

Essential functions

  • You will be the in-house SME in PowerShell and PowerShell DSC with responsibility for release management, process automation and configuration management
  • You will have very strong technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL with responsibility for the delivery, support and maintenance of reliable, highly available and high performance database environments
  • You will drive Incident and Problem investigation and resolution by coordinating the application vendors, IT infrastructure team and internal business users
  • You will identify redundant processes and/or process optimization opportunities and implement automation to simplify the applications release management, reduce duplication of work and streamline operational processes
  • You will collaborate with the application vendors and IT Infrastructure teams to develop expert knowledge of the application estate and implement in-depth monitoring of all critical application services
  • You will provide documentation and training to AerCap’s Service Delivery team to improve support of applications release and operations

Job requirements, qualifications, and competencies  

Educational/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in information systems support and operations preferably in an outsourced environment, 2+ years devops engineering experience desired
  • Very strong knowledge of the Microsoft Server technology stack (Operating systems and SQL)
  • Demonstrated experience of automating application deployments and processes in complex 24/7 environments
  • Experience with Cloud providers (Azure, AWS) a distinct advantage
  • Very good knowledge of ITIL

Technical/Functional

  • SME in PowerShell and PowerShell DSC (other scripting languages an advantage)
  • Very strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL database administration, reporting services, tuning and query optimisation
  • Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016. A relevant industry certification, e.g., MCSE an advantage
  • Git, Microsoft TFS
  • Octopus Deploy
  • Cloud Environments including Azure and AWS
  • JIRA
  • Microsoft .NET
  • Understanding of core IT security principles
