Job summary

AerCap is seeking a motivated individual to join its Internal Audit team as the Internal Audit Senior Manager. In this position, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and as a team to the company’s Audit Committee, you will be a key member of a small team of enthusiastic and qualified internal auditors which is highly business focused and committed to assisting the AerCap Board and Senior Management in achieving the company’s objectives while also continually improving the internal audit function itself. A particular focus of the role is on business transformation and project assurance (including oversight of key IT projects).

Internal Audit at AerCap conducts operational and process audits through the AerCap group. We adopt a risk based audit approach and we deliver high quality work in compliance with international professional standards. The department reports to the Audit Committee with full endorsement of the Chief Executive Officer through a dual reporting line. The team has a positive relationship with all levels of management who appreciate the value added services provided by Internal Audit. The department strives to improve its services to the business continuously with a view to constantly deliver better results.

Essential functions

  • Participation in ongoing internal audit planning
  • Execution of high quality audits in fulfilment of the annual internal audit plan
  • Project assurance including oversight of key IT projects
  • Collaboration with management on transformation / innovation projects
  • Identification of efficiency opportunities and control improvements across the business and within Internal Audit
  • Close interaction with all levels of management as part of audits and throughout the year as a sounding board for process / control issues
  • Preparation of audit results to Audit Committee and Senior Management
  • Positioning of the Internal Audit department in the AerCap organization
  • Maintain quality assurance program
  • Periodic reporting to the Audit Committee
  • General advice on risks and controls in the AerCap business processes and supporting processes including change / IT projects
  • Monitoring of open items for resolution within the business
  • Liaise with external auditors as required
  • Limited traveling involved

Job requirements and competencies


  • 5+ years’ experience in field relevant to role
  • Appropriate assurance qualifications
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications valued


  • Strong background in developing and executing assurance assignments
  • Aircraft leasing industry experience not essential but valued
  • Good hands-on IT competencies required
  • Experience with Sox compliance projects valued
