Manager, Portfolio Management

Job summary

Portfolio Management is responsible for shaping AerCap’s portfolio through strategic sales and acquisitions. The team is continually evaluating sale and acquisition opportunities in order to make sure that AerCap’s portfolio contains a diversified mix of the most liquid, in demand, and thus valuable aircraft. To accomplish this, the team is in constant contact with all reaches of the organization. Our interaction with the Leasing department allows us to know what aircraft and lease terms airline operators all over the world are demanding. The Risk department guides where we may want to sell out of certain airline exposure. The Technical department gives guidance on the impact of the maintenance condition of the aircraft. The Financial Planning team gives guidance as to how our sales and acquisitions will influence the corporate financial results. Portfolio Management combines all of this internal information with market research to balance the tradeoff of selling and acquiring aircraft and establishes the target prices for the sales and acquisitions. As such this department has an important and influential role in determining the overall shape and direction of AerCap. As such this department demands a lot from its team members.

Essential functions

  • Pricing (sales and acquisitions)
  • Market research
  • Portfolio analysis
  • Prepare presentations
  • Development of new reporting tools
  • Drafting of approval papers
  • Interaction with various internal departments

Job requirements, qualifications, and competencies  

Educational/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Analyst experience in Budgeting or Finance department
  • Experience in these departments in the airline, manufacturer, or aircraft leasing industry, or in either management, consulting, or banking with a focus on these industries is strongly preferred

Technical/Functional

  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting materials in both formal and informal settings

  • Ability to manage inter-departmental relationships across AerCap’s global offices
  • Passion for the aviation industry
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
