Job summary

AerCap is seeking a motivated individual to join its Engineering Services team within the Technical function as a Senior Manager Engineering Services. The Technical department is responsible for drafting and negotiating technical lease provisions, transferring aircraft and their records, and managing aircraft repossessions. The department also identifies the best methods for preserving residual value of AerCap’s aircraft, forecasts maintenance events to assess their impact on aircraft value, manages asset disposition, determines best lease extension periods, and identifies cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities. In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, Technical team members determine the validity of Lessee airframe, engine, and landing gear reserve reimbursement claims, negotiate maintenance agreements with airframe and engine third-party suppliers, collect and organize technical data, identify engineering requirements, analyze financial impacts, and establish airframe maintenance reserve rates.

The Senior Manager Engineering Services ensures that engineering and parts related to aircraft modifications (cabin, avionics, systems), certification, and appropriate labor estimates are available to comply with delivery commitments (airline as well as regulatory requirements). The Senior Manager Engineering Services will provide modification pricing to AerCap leasing executives and provide support to the technical team on aircraft that are currently on lease. To succeed, the incumbent must be detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and a strong communicator.

Essential functions

50-60% Engineering, parts, and certification

  • Identity most appropriate engineering approach to fulfill the delivery commitment
  • Prepare RFQ and select engineering company
  • Coordinate dual certification approvals (EASA – FAA); understanding of the third party (non-EASA/FAA) certification approvals is a plus
  • Develop detailed engineering / modification schedules
  • Identify together with the Aircraft Specification and Procurement (ASAP) group material for modifications in support of used aircraft transitions
  • Manage modifications at time of embodiment; arrange for on-site support if required
  • Coordinate with Technical Executives to ensure planning, labor, and tooling are in place via regular communications with MRO
  • Determine commonality to lessee current fleet through aircraft configuration
  • Develop LOPA design
  • Review aircraft modifications, repair records, and certification basis
  • Obtain import authority validation of existing major modifications and / or repairs
  • Locate and provide engineering documents not available by returning lessee
  • Provide alternate solutions to parts shortages

40-50% Purchasing and client relations

  • Negotiate aircraft / parts price and terms together with the ASAP team
  • Participate in lease negotiating meetings to provide definition and budget to the proposed / planned modification(s)
  • Coordinate project review meetings to ensure compliance with lease and customer requirements
  • Coordinate the purchasing and selection of parts
  • Provide cost and risk assessment of aircraft transitions due to regulatory importation requirements
  • Assist clients in defining interior and avionics configurations

Job requirements, qualifications, and competencies


  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering: Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical, Aircraft Engineers License or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of aircraft modification engineering experience required
